How to… #EPTDA2023Amsterdam Annual Business Convention

A short guideline that will enhance your experience as a convention delegate.

EPTDA’s Annual Business Conventions are one of the most popular events in the Power Transmission / Motion Control industry in Europe. The event can be sometimes a little fatiguing, but, nonetheless, exciting. So, here are a few lines about what is going to happen in September, that will help you better navigate this experience.

Before the convention

Accommodation

Go on the “Hotel” section, and use the dedicated link to book your room. Keep in mind that, this year there are 2 hotels where EPTDA guests will be accommodated – Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre and Inntel Hotels Amsterdam Landmark.

Convention App

If not done already, download the Brella app and get familiar with it. Discover the program, start interacting with delegates who already have their profile activated within the app and, when open, book your MD-IDEX sessions. Before, and especially during the convention, you will get notifications in real time helping you organize your agenda better and arrange your networking meetings.

Special thanks to Gates, this year’s Digital Partner and sponsor of the convention app – Brella.

MD-IDEX bookings

Available only for the EPTDA members: the first weeks of September are dedicated to MD-IDEX bookings, using the Brella app. You will get notifications and separate emails about the schedule, and, in advance, there will be a webinar on 29 August, teaching you how to use the app. If you are representing a manufacturer company, but you are not yet an EPTDA member, you cannot book any MD-IDEX meetings. Instead, you have plenty of time and spaces to meet with convention delegates outside these organized sessions and you can use the Brella app to contact your persons of interest and set-up a meeting there.

Check your emails

A few days before the convention, check your travel itineraries, pack your bags, bring some joy, and prepare your business cards (digital or printed ones) — the convention is about to start and you will have plenty of networking opportunities. Don’t forget to check your emails too, the EPTDA Bureau might have some last-minute messages for you.

Dress code

Important, but not urgent: the dress code is business casual attire. Feel comfortable while networking with your peers, colleagues, business partners.

At the convention

The #EPTDA2023Amsterdam Annual Business Convention (yes, we encourage you to use the hashtag #) is starting, so let’s see how to explore the networking opportunities.

Let’s see what’s happening during the event:

Wednesday, 27 September

  • The Registration Desk opens on Wednesday, 27 September, starting with 9:00 a.m, in the Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre, up on the 1st floor. Go there and you can pick-up your delegate pack, including your event badge. If you need any information, you can ask the EPTDA Bureau representatives that will be there to help you.

  • The EPTDA Leadership Academy workshop is taking place from 14:00 until 17:30, with a coffee break at 15:30. If you registered for it, you will be guided to the workshop room.
  • The Welcome Reception starts at 19:30. You are invited to the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (PTA), right next to the hotel, and we will use the main entrance on Wednesday evening. Benefit of the Welcome Reception to warm-up, have a drink, and meet other delegates.

The Networking Partner sponsoring the First Timers Reception and Welcome Reception is Tsubaki Europe.

  • The Welcome Dinner starts around 20:00 and we won’t say much now, but the presentations and the entertainment part are a surprise that we hope you will enjoy.

The Welcome Dinner experience is sponsored by two other Networking Partners: KTR and Donghua International.

  • After dinner – have a good sleep and rest, there are 2 more days full of networking opportunities, meetings, and interesting content.

Thursday, 28 September

  • General recommendation: start the morning with a good breakfast!

  • At 08:30 AM, meet us in the PTA – this time you can use the passage open at the 1st floor in the Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre.
  • Join us for the Opening Keynote presentation of the 2024 trends, hosted by Connor Lokar from ITR Economics, followed by the Keynote Presentation on how to “Bust myths about AI and bridge the gap to real value for business and society” by Elin Hauge, followed by a panel discussion.

  • Take a break, get a coffee, tea or another soft drink, and get a boost of energy for the first MD-IDEX meeting sessions of the day.

You can enjoy your drink in the Intelligence Bar area, one of the networking spaces arranged for our guests and sponsored by Regal Rexnord.

  • Enjoy your MD-IDEX meetings, open networking meetings and lunch this afternoon. Check out the PTMI and PLI areas and don’t forget to join the short presentations that are taking place there during the coffee breaks – you will find some very useful details about these products.

  • Go and say “Hello!” to our partners from the exhibiting area, they have some interesting stuff to show you!

  • Starting with 18:30, all female delegates are welcomed for a drink at the Intelligence Bar area, for one hour dedicated exclusively to networking – we would love to meet and get to know the Women in the Industry!

  • During the evening you can explore Amsterdam on your own or spend some time at the Intelligence Bar, for a cocktail drink and a snack. Enjoy your evening and relax – there is one more day to go!

Friday, 29 September

  • Repeat the previous day’s morning routine for a good start. Or invent a new one while in Amsterdam, whatever suits you best and helps you to get ready for a day fully dedicated to networking.

  • MD-IDEX sessions are taking place from 09:30 until 13:30. You will have some coffee breaks and at 13:30 lunch is served.
  • Open Networking sessions start at 15:00; the afternoon is reserved for you to enjoy open networking meetings or just enjoy your time as you wish – but you will do this inside the Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre – the PTA space is getting ready for the evening.

  • The Women in the Industry workshop with Evie Ross takes place from 15:00 until 16:00. Female delegates are invited to join, for free.

  • Closing event begins at 19:30. Let’s meet again in the PTA – it’s going to be a relaxing, fun evening with plenty of opportunities to network, dance, sing… wait, what?! Yes, it’s a fun, casual evening, we will have a party!
